The romantic kitchen

There are a lot of ways to furnish our kitchen. There are many styles that we can use, for example minimalist, metallic, retro or colorful. Romantic kitchens are very popular too, because the ladies spend a lot of time in the kitchen and they would like to have a lovely, beautiful kitchen.
The main characteristics of the romantic kitchen are the light colors and the cambered wood furniture with light colors. In many cases, it ranges with vintage kitchen style, as the use of pastel colors is dominant.

                                                                    The rose

In a typical romantic kitchen design there are always fresh flowers or some decorations with flower pattern; for example a curtain, a tea kettle, a kitchen cover or a platter.

Faint furniture

As we see, in the romantic kitchen the faint furniture are dominant, first of all the white and the ivory colors of the kitchen cabinets and countertops. It’s advantageous, because we can combine it with any other colors so we can redesign our kitchen easily for our kitchen renovation.

Romantic kitchen quick and cheap

We can make a romantic kitchen easily. To choose materials and surfaces we should seek advice from a specialist then we can look for decoration elements. We can decorate our new, romantic kitchen with old refurbished chairs and we can also ornament them with pillows in pastel colors. Don’t forget: there are basic elements of the romantic kitchen: the flower pattern, the light colors and the decorative chandeliers.

Kitchen lighting

Like every room in our home, the kitchen needs good lighting. It’s important to provide proper lighting for the workspace and adds to the overall atmosphere.

We can use all kinds of lights, but we have to place it right. So let's have a look at some examples for lighting for your kitchen renovation. It’s the best if we combine these lighting types, but take care not to use too many light sources at the same time unnecessarily.

Ceiling lights

It’s the most common type of kitchen lighting. They can be either the pendant or the built-in type. The built-in lights are very practical, because we can use LED light in these to save energy. We have to plan their places at the time of the kitchen design by the designer so it can be incorporated into the plans so all the wires can be run inside of the walls and light sockets embedded in the kitchen ceiling.

There are many variants of pendant lamps, regarding styles and colors. A patterned, colorful lamp cover will be a beautiful decoration element in the kitchen but we can play around with the length of the lamp cord too . We can hang it above the dining table to emphasize it. It can be very cozy, but we have to take care not to hang it too deep, else it might be blinding or get in the way.

Instead of the pendant lamps we can choose a large, decorative chandelier. If the kitchen is built in a minimalistic style, one beautiful chandelier can decorate it perfectly.

Wall lights

We can use wall lights in the kitchen as well, not only in the bedroom and the living room. We can light the dining corner, or we can put it above the workplace too.

Lighting over the kitchen workspace

The lighting of the workspace, i.e. the kitchen countertop is very important. We can use neon tube or built-in LED lighting under the kitchen cabinets.

 Mood lighting in the kitchen

We can decorate our kitchen with lighting elements as well. For example, we can use pin lighting. In this case, the bulbs are built in the bottom of the kitchen counter. These can emphasize the road leading to the kitchen or call attention to the beautiful backsplash. The other kind of mood lighting is the internal cabinet light. We can install bulbs into the cabinets with glass doors to create a peaceful atmosphere in the kitchen. Don’t forget to use colorful bulbs to make the kitchen more decorative.

Kitchen layouts – the kitchen triangle model

In the 1950s researchers of Cornell University came up with the model of the triangular kitchen. Their goal was to figure out a layout, which significantly reduces the distance we have to walk in our kitchen, while we make our food or clean up. The key to this layout is the placement of the fridge, the sink and the stove.  The workplaces are between the angles of the triangle. We can understand the logic behind it if we think about the food preparation process from the storing, washing, cleaning, cutting, cooking and serving all the way to the dishwashing and cleaning.
The triangular model in the kitchen

The L-shaped kitchen : In this, the classic kitchen triangle is ideal, and we only need 2 adjacent walls for the renovation, it is also works with medium sized kitchens. It’s a good choice if the kitchen is open to other rooms, where it is possible to set up a dining or a living room or you can make a perfect area for a family room.

Kitchen designers agree that the most effective layout is the U-shaped kitchen for cooking. This form can be shorter or longer, so it is sometimes referred to as ”C-shaped kitchen". In this shape, the counters are placed along 3 adjacent walls, the creation of the ideal work-triangle is simple. If the space is too wide, we can add a kitchen island to bring the elements closer together to increase efficiency.

If we can only place the furniture along 1 wall, then we can use the linear kitchen layout. But for this we need a minimum of 3 meters of space. It is not the best solution, because in this case we can't talk about work-triangles. All the elements are placed in a straight line.

In many aspects, the most ideal layout is the corridor kitchen, because then the sides of the triangle are shortened, so we have to walk less, thus we are less likely to get tired. The disadvantage of this kitchen layout design is that only one person can move comfortably.

The 2 remaining layout is not too suitable for social gatherings. If the kitchen is the center of your home and is your socializing area, then the best layout is the one with an island.  It has 2 important roles: space separation and connection. It can be an operational unit as well, incorporating the sink and the cooktop. With this shape you usually need a large kitchen but can work with medium sized kitchens too, so we should aim to make a small work-triangle, if possible.

For smaller gatherings the G-shaped kitchen is ideal, which combines the U-shaped kitchen layout with a smaller dining space.

With the right layout we can establish 2 totally separated workspaces.
Both kitchen layouts could be practical for extra surface and storage.
